I want to replace and convergence the old technology (version 1.0) with coding standards on toward version 1.1. By using XML, caching, and classes, I want to create a framework that is easily extensible. That was my dream with version 1.0, but that came crashing down. Version 1.0 is a hack job and that needs to be fixed, caching has to be set up to where it can disabled and enabled. It is kind of bad to be talking about version 1.0 when it isn’t even complete, but I can’t be pressed to go over and fix the parts now this close to completion.
From the post-mortem and suggestions from other programmers, I can further the development. Version 1.1 will have a lot of work going in to it and I’ll probably spend a lot of time on it building the game from ground up adding filters and other features. I will also try to add a plug-in feature but that may come in version 1.2 depending on the complexity of the design and the popularity of the game engine.
From the tests I have done for version 1.0, I believe that I will be doing a lot more for version 1.1 and version 1.2. It will be a lot easier building and rewriting code that already works than it would be to do it like version 1, from no previous examples. I’m almost complete with version 1.0 and I have been thinking a lot about how to make things a lot better. If anyone else besides me uses the game engine, then I think it would be a great idea to improve it for their benefit.
