It isn’t a matter of, “You’re just guessing and she still might not!”
She has to kill him at the end. It is the matter of fans sending millions of letters requesting for her to continue the story, if he survives or concluding the story.
The same crap was in the His Dark Materials series and I never forgave the author for the conclusion. In my mind, those two lived happily ever after together! Nothing you can say will make me change my mind.
I was content with the ending to Abhorsen. That was a damn good book and series. I also think that he is a really good author. I’ve read a few other books and liked his style.
Anyway, there is only two clear paths: one in which he survives and one in which he dies. The former will beg for sequels, while the latter does not. She also stated that there will be two main characters dieing. Lord V and Harry Potter.
