Two Weeks Left of School

I’m less stressed out now that I’m almost done than I was when I was two or three weeks in. I’ve had to put off a lot of projects, since I’ve been really busy during most part of the school semester. It has been good, I should have one A, two Bs, and probably one C, but I’m hoping that I do well on the Final to make that last one a ‘B’.

It also means I’ll be able to jump start projects that I’ve been putting off for the past couple of months. After I’m finish with the finals I mean.

PHP Opcode Series

I’ve been reading an Assembler book that has helped a great deal to understand the mechanics of what PHP opcodes should function. I’m hoping to dive more into PHP compiler and see how the opcodes works within the engine (how they are built and executed) and during runtime (what PHP interprets). It should also mean that I’ll be more active in the PHP Mailing Lists, whether that is a good or bad.

AI Development

I have a few plans this Summer for AI for the Quantum Game Library and for a web site. I doubt I’ll finish it all, but I want to at least finish the Dijkstra and A* algorithms and get into both Fuzzy Logic and Bayesian Networks. I’ll discuss the web site when I have established more of a base for it. I’m planning REST services, but that is all I’m going to say until I’ve developed a prototype.

Quantum Game Library

There are a few components that I’ve been wanting to work on and add. I should have more time to work on adding the new components and fixing and improving the current components. Also, documentation (inline and manual) is still sorely lacking and I plan on working on that some more.

Astrum Futura

I’ve put development off for far too long. I had waited to have a few features done by this point, but I’ll have to complete them over the Summer. I do plan to get a lot done this Summer for Astrum Futura. I do think that most of the features shouldn’t take that long to complete. I do want to give a better base for which the leads can work off of.

Battle Machines

I’ve said I’ll work on this game this year, so I plan on doing that with whether base Astrum Futura is at the time. I suppose most of the model is not going to be in the Quantum Game Library during Battle Machine Branch development. I do plan on moving a great deal back into the Quantum Game Library for generic objects or rewriting game specific classes to non-specific ones and adding them to the library.

It would be interesting to see how quickly the current game model and view can be converted to Astrum Futura base. It might seem lacking in common sense to use an still-in-development game engine, but it will help me stay with helping Astrum Futura. Also, by doing this, I’ll be formally moving the Battle Machines to a more secure and open code base. Which, hopefully more developers that like Battle Machines (Robotechnik) will join up and make the branch better.

Misc Browser Game Projects

I’ve extended my hand to helping other an established and a start-up PHP Browser Game projects. It isn’t as Professional as Astrum Futura, so it is mostly get in and ad hoc add features or fix existing ones as the case may or may not be. I’m more excited about the established one, but I’ve not a developer for it, yet. If I get in, then it should make for a great development and a lot of fun.

The start-up should be interesting, the lead has experience with ad-hoc development and already has a team. Well, he is starting two projects, but I’m primarily interested in one at this point of time.

Delayed until Later

I doubt with the current list of projects and with Fall school semester I’ll be able to get to them this year.

  • Simply Profile – I have no idea when I’ll get to this, but it has ceased to be a priority since Mingle2 came into being.
  • Absidon Games – This site still looks like crap and will remain so, until further notice or until I can just get sick of looking at it and have time to convert it to its new template.
  • Mecha Asylum – Will have to wait until the trunk of Astrum Futura has become stable or at least has a stable tagged release. Mecha Asylum will be a direct clone of Astrum Futura, except with Mecha Suits and limited planets and range. Therefore, development will depend on a stable and almost feature complete version of Astrum Futura.
  • HEAT of the Race – How many years have I put this off? Two? No, three years. Okay, the priority will definitely jump higher when the above projects are completed. This is definitely a Winter Break project.
  • Earth 3045 – Probably the next project I’ll work on, after HEAT. I’m 99.99% sure I won’t be able to use Astrum Futura, but I probably still use Quantum Game Library (which by that time should be both more stable and have more components).
