Finally, I’m running a legal version of Windows! I’m happy now that I can finally download Internet Explorer 8 beta and run it. There are also a lot of developer applications that require a legal copy of Windows.
I haven’t been running it for long, but I’m already excited with what I’ve seen so far. There are some changes I’m unsure about, like for instance, I can’t seem to find the defragment manager where you can see all of the drives and defrag them one by one. Eh, no matter.
I didn’t realize it, but you can get copies of Windows Vista for $100 (Windows Vista Home Premium). I have plans on buying copies for my upcoming HTPC systems. Although, if I went with Linux, I would save $400 in the long term.
I’ll have to continue debating Linux verses Windows at a later time. Compared to everything else when building a computer, $100 isn’t that bad. It is $199 for Windows Business, which would be too costly for my tastes. I’m running Windows Vista Business now, but that is only because I got it from School program. I suppose that is how Microsoft sucks you in, “Hey kids, check out this software! It is cheap and awesome.” And it is quite awesome.
Linux is catching up, but I see good things in Windows future. I’m keeping track of Windows 7 and I’m thinking it may be what I’ve been waiting for.
It was kind of sad, I’ve been running Windows XP installation for almost a year and a half. Recently with a few applications and hardware, the system became unstable. So, cheers Windows XP for surviving almost two years, stable and with barely and performance issues.
Here is to hoping this installation of Vista lasts until Windows 7 comes out.
