Building Libraries From Existing Game Projects

The game projects have been down for far too long and I’m worried about having them down so long. The reason I haven’t put them back up is that I want to redevelop them using the Yii Framework. This means, separating out the Models, Views, and Controllers for the games. I also only want to have one game engine to base the games off of.

I only want to write the User code once, the private messaging code once, and so on. So the core components, I only want to write them once and have them used on the other game projects. Well, I also want to include donation and premium modules, so that the projects can start making money.

I want to move to a dedicated server soon for the games, but they have to offset the purchase by a lot. I’ve seen what being able to manage the MySQL buffers can do and the performance gain from increasing it. I’m thinking that with the amount of web sites and domains, having just 4GB should be fine with dual cores should be able to handle the amount of users the sites are going to have.

I’m going to refocus the CorePress project and only focus on what is needed towards implementing in the game projects. This does mean a change in the focus of CorePress and it means that I’m going to focus more on moving parts of the current game projects to the main library for all of the projects.

It also means I need to get in touch with Padraic Brady and get his permission for what I’m going to do. If he is up to it, then I’m going to go for it. If not, then it is going to require a new project name.
