Chapter 1 Script: Rough Draft 2
• Kids gathered around living room circling an old man in village of hitake or something.
Old Man: What story do you want to hear now?
Kid 1: Tell us the story about the creation of the world, grandfather!
Kid 2: Yeah!
Old Man: Again? Well, okay.
• Old Man ponders the contents of the story
Old Man: The world was created by the ancient sages, years and years ago.
Kid 3: Why?
Old Man: (Fake Gasping) Why? No one knows…
Kids: Oooh!
Old Man: (Laughing) Well, after they created the Universe, they set in motion rules.
Kid 2: Oh, like when we fall down?
Old Man: Heh, yeah. And many others.
Old Man:They created the stars, the world, the beasts, and humans and bestowed power on the kings of man.
Kid 4: And who were they?
• Large Strong man Breaks the door down and comes in
Spirit Keeper 3: Us!
Kids: (Screaming)
• The kids and the old man try to run away
• The Spirit Keeper lashes out with a fire spell
Spirit Keeper 3: Mwahahaha! (<- Evil Laugh)
• Leaves the house in flames
• Four Spirit Keepers sitting around the fire
Spirit Keeper 2: Did you have to kill them?
Spirit Keeper 3: Back off, bitch!
Spirit Keeper 1: They were bad people and a threat to our order.
Spirit Keeper 2: All of them?
Spirit Keeper 4: Yes! The orders and briefing have never been wrong!
Spirit Keeper 1: Just follow orders and keep your mouth shut.
Spirit Keeper 1: No good comes of questioning.
Spirit Keeper 3: Remember Kieteo?
Spirit Keeper 4: The rapist?
Spirit Keeper 2: Yeah, the gutted him in front of the victim’s family.

• Spirit Keeper 2 gets up and starts walking away
Spirit Keeper 1: Where are you going?
Spirit Keeper 2: I need to get some air.
Spirit Keeper 1: Don’t go to far! This is dangerous territory.
• Spirit Keeper 2 leaves and fades out.
Spirit Keeper 3: I don’t like her.
Spirit Keeper 1: She is a kid and will learn.
Spirit Keeper 3: And if she doesn’t?
Spirit Keeper 1: Then she doesn’t and we leave it at that.
Spirit Keeper 4: (Snickers)
• Saruwatari taking a walk around the city in light clothes
Saruwatari: (Sighs) I should get ready for school
• Runs home
• Saruwatari stands at the stairs of the school with no one around
Saruwatari: Crap! Sensei is going to kill me!
• Runs through the halls to class and arrives at the door.
• The teacher opens the door and punchs Saruwatari in the face.
Saruwatari: Sorry I’m late Sensei!
Sensei: Is it going to happen again?
Saruwatari: No sir!
Sensei: That is what you said last time and the time before that and you know what?
Saruwatari: What is that sir?
Sensei: You are still arriving late. (Hits Saruwatari in stomach)
Sensei: Get in there!
• Saruwatari sits down in his seat next to his friend Kojima.
• Kojima gives him an angry look
Sensei: Now who can tell us where the country… (fades out)
• At lunch time
Kojima: What were you thinking?
Saruwatari: (stares)
Kojima: You’re not going to ignore me!
Saruwatari: I’m not. Okay? I’m just thinking.
Kojima: (softer) Oh. Well, I’m sure it is nothing.
Saruwatari: It is something to me. (Pauses) I – I…
• Man arrives and drops a folder next to Saruwatari
• Saruwatari and Kojima get up and go outside.
Kojima: A new order?
Saruwatari: (reads the briefing) Yes.
• Finishes reading and gives the folder to Kojima.
Saruwatari: There has been an attack. (turns around)
Kojima: Yeah, and it seems they are still in the area.
Saruwatari: Yoshikuni is joining us.
Kojima: Where do I recognize that name from?
Saruwatari: He is the best rookie in his class, air type.
Kojima: Huh? Who would have thought, he would be so strong?
• They walk back to the lunch room and a friend comes up to them
Guy Friend: Where were you two?
Saruwatari and Kojima (together): Studying!
Guy Friend: Yeah, right! You were (kissing motions)…
Kojima: With Saruwatari? Ha ha, (continues laughing)
Saruwatari: Hey! I’m actually very good at kissing.
Kojima: Yeah? (wipes tear) With who?
Saruwatari: Well… That’s not the point!
• Kojima waiting outside of Saruwatari house
Kojima: Hurry up, we are going to be late!
Saruwatari: (out the window) Almost ready!
• Saruwatari comes out the door throwing his jacket on.
• They run towards the gate.
